At $5,000, it sounds like a whole lot of car. But, is it worth it? You tell me.

No. I've been looking for an old 3 series for a few weeks now. You should be able to pick up a nice 7 series with nothing wrong with it, and that kind of mileage for half that price.

No.

about average price, maybe a little high with the cracked dash and mileage.

I've seen old 6's like this priced for half, but this one is also extremely well maintained. Old BMWs biggest problems is not being taken care of.

That's not a 3-Series or a 7-Series, so, uh, what's your point? The market for the 6-Series is generally healthier than a comparable 3/7 from the period.

take a look and drive it. That would be the real test. With some of the additions though, I start to get leery about it being driven hard.

well if you really want a 6 series I guess I don't have a point, but if you are cross shopping, it is something to think about. So uh, there, man.

What 505Turbeaux said. It's definitely a touch high, but I do get the feeling from the photos that it's been well-maintained, although the seller's description leaves that a little murky. If it keeps up appearances after an inspection, I'd say it might be worth paying a touch more than what it's "worth".

would I pay it? no
Would someone pay it? Maybe
A dealer down by my friend in southern maryland had a grey 86 635csi on the lot with 72,000 miles. Car was MINT, they wanted 7 grand for it. To put a time frame on how long they had it, I first noticed the car on the lot around the time my friend got his e23 (fall of 2012). I saw the car on the lot, in the same spot, all through 2013. It was only when I went to buy said e23 last month, that I noticed the car, as well as the entire dealership, closed up shop and vanished.
So I think this price is a wee bit high.

which is what I did. 85 745i, 150,000 miles, 2 Grand
Thank you for reminding me that my car is worthless lol

It is in nice shape and the m30's run forever. However, I think 5 is a little high.

You're probably right. I've seen a number of them at $1500, but they're automatics. The manual seems rare to find in any 5 or 6-er.

Rare especially in the later production years. They pop up for sale pretty often as long as you keep looking.

Exactly. I'm sure if I had a real interest in buying own I could look hard enough. They just intrigue me more than anything. Know anything about old 6-ers?

as far as old bmw's go the 635csi is kinda meh imho, but that looks like a decent example for the price. Not happy to see replica wheels and nitto tires- what ELSE did you cheap out on, current owner? And it's BEIGE! I'd lean towards CP.
Besides, I found this one for $500 less with a turbo. Homebuilt manifold? Sure, why not! I'd do it for the lulz.
